In honor of America’s Labor Day holiday, I’m celebrating people who labor less to achieve more. These talented individuals leverage their strengths. Case in point: Usain Bolt runs the 100 meter dash in 41 steps, fewer steps than anyone else in the race. 100 meters divided by 41 = 2.44 meters per stride. For those of us who went to Romeo High School, that equals eight feet. Eight FEET! With each stride, Bolt covers ground that is longer than some cars! This gives him a distinct competitive advantage. He labors less to win more – which is exactly what you should be doing to achieve your maximum potential. Here are a few thought starters.
It’s been almost a month since my book, Destination Unstoppable, was released. I’ve sold hundreds of copies and have ordered hundreds more for upcoming client engagements. But that’s not where I’m finding JOY. I’m finding joy in the journey – and isn’t that the way we truly experience success?
Hey, guys! How about that selfie? Okay, perhaps it is not what I look like on the outside (thank goodness) but it is how I feel on the inside. Why? It is hard for me to promote myself. It makes me uncomfortable. I’d rather promote something that you are doing than something I am doing. So, now that we have cleared the air on that topic, I want to invite you to a webinar tomorrow – I am the guest speaker!
What’s happening in your head right now? Are you chastising yourself for a mistake made yesterday – or six years ago? Are you dreaming about dessert? Are you wondering what your boss thinks of you, or wishing death upon the mean girl at the office, or evaluating when you can quit and do what you really were put on this earth to do? What is that conversation like, and who is in charge? What if that same mental chatter was happening between you and a REAL PERSON – with them doing all the talking. Would it change things? Would you smile, press their hand gently, and say, “Shhh… take a deep breath! It will all be okay.” Or would you say, “Shut up, you neurotic nimrod! Get outta my house! You’re driving me crazy!”
