Seek to deepen the connections with your family, work-from-home teams, or your college buddies? The best way to do that is to: Have. Some. Fun. #WeveGotThis #DestinationUnstoppableChallenge
I won’t revisit the points made in my leading in a panic epidemic blog – you can review it here. It’s been viewed over 500 times in March! However, one way to overcome uncertainty and fear is to laugh in the face of it. So, here we go.
THE DESTINATION UNSTOPPABLE CHALLENGE
One thing I promise when I work with people is FUN. To that end, I built a very short video series on how to make the Destination Unstoppable journey – an abbreviated version of the one I make with Olympic teams and executive teams and family teams. Below is a subset of those actions that YOU can leverage to find fun, joy, and relief in these tough times. READY?
Step One: Build Your Team: I invite you to grab your girlfriends (this is a ton of fun for social units!) Or get your kids and spouse around the kitchen table. Or collect your work-from-home team. Or text your college buddies. Then, let’s take a deep dive into what makes you and each other tick!
Step Two: Name your team – what will you call yourselves? How does your group flaunt your talents in the face of this mess? What does “winning” look like? One of my favorite global teams is called the Danish Fighting Pastries. I love them! Who are you?
Step Three: If you’re completely unfamiliar with my work, watch this 3 minute video which provides a couple of examples and outcomes with kids/families/teams. Otherwise, head to Step Four.
Step Four: Assess your talents with the CliftonStrengths tool (ages 14+) and/or your children (ages 9 – 13ish). Step by Step video provided here.
Step Five: Download your results/reports and read them. Click on the how-to video here.
Step Six: Have A Party (with correct social distancing) to share your results. Grab a glass of wine, get your girlfriends together on Zoom. Hold a special team meeting with your work from home colleagues. Get the family around the dinner table! Be prepared to laugh your heads off at each other’s results. Ask questions. Share examples of when you’ve seen them “do that.” Value them for being valuable, and let them do the same for you.
That’s it! If you want to go deeper, you can go deeper with my other videos. But for now, let’s make these few steps, invest in and celebrate our awesomeness, and deepen our connections. This is what I do all day, every day, and I know it works.
If you choose to accept the Destination Unstoppable Challenge, a better future will be yours!
Have fun, and holler if I can help.
