One fabulous aspect of a learning journey includes speaking with subject matter experts (SME’s). Last week, I had the joy of speaking with Gallup Strengths consultant, Jamie Librot. Jamie’s been helping people with strengths forever ! We had a marvelous conversation, and during our talk, she mentioned that she had written a blog about strengths partnership strategies that occur in nature. Of course, I wanted to know more.
You can read Jamie’s blog by clicking here – she talks about a fish and a crazy, noise-making shrimp that truly cannot survive without the other (hint: one of the two creatures is blind). There are human parallels in her story. When you read it, does anything come to mind from your own experiences? It’s something I’m going to work on myself in this, our fifth week of Project Butterfly.
My Strategic Insight Guide description has a line I really like in it. It reads:
You are fascinated by problems that puzzle, confound, or frustrate most people. By nature, you comprehend what has gone wrong.
I’m a good detective, especially if things have gone awry. If you happen to be someone who desires to know went wrong, then I’m your “girl.” If you are more sensitive and wish to hear only what has gone right, or need to hear bad news in a really positive light, then I need a partnership strategy! Low in Harmony, I’m not so great a generating a message that has a pretty bow on it. However, there are others out there who are great at that! I honor that person’s strengths if I allow their Positivity or Harmony or Empathy to shine. It’s a Win-Win for us both!
Project Butterfly Week 5:
- As you think of your top 5 strengths, what you love about your work, and the notes you’ve made over the past few weeks, do you see any patterns? Can you come up with an analogy of what you learned that’s grounded in nature? Or sports? Or anything else?
- What strength are you going to focus on this week?
